Several weeks ago we held a Twitter chat discussing the versatility of oats – a topic we can chat about for hours. One of my favorite ways to add another layer of flavor to oats is varying the cooking liquid. It’s like using chicken stalk to cook rice. In addition, when you cook oats in water (or other liquids), you consume the water along with any nutritional benefits lost from the oats to the water, unlike pasta where any nutritional benefit lost to the water is thrown away.
The cooking liquid options are endless. The more creative you are the less boring your breakfast will be. Here are a few fun options:
Pomegranate Infused Oats:
This next recipe is perfect for Monday mornings and has the extra jolt to start your week energized.
Coffee Brewed Oats
I love to use coconut water. It makes it a tad sweet so I don't need to add any other sweetener.

I add cooked oats to soups and other liquid foods for a fuller healthier meal
