If you’re ever in need of a big batch of Coach’s Oats, fear not. We have the solutions. Whether food-prepping for the week ahead or feeding a large crowd, cooking a large serving of oatmeal is a cinch.
We’ve shared before how affordable and easy our oats are to prepare for a crowd in “Entertaining with Oatmeal.” We used a rice cooker in that post. However, today the Instant Pot has replaced a rice cooker for many. We heard from our fan, Christina S. and she told us how she prepares Coach’s Oats for the week and we had to share.
Use water to-oats ratios as provided on the bag.
For this post we used 2 cups Coach’s Oats and 6 cups water.
(Christina adds a pinch of salt)
Hit the “porridge” button on the Instant Pot and that’s it.
We adjusted the time to 9 minutes.
Store the oats in individual containers in the refrigerator for the week or set up a yummy oatmeal bar for your lucky guests.
Don’t have an Instant Pot or rice cooker? No Problem, boiling the oats in a large pot provides the same result and takes relatively the same amount of time.
Do you have a recipe you use Coach’s Oats with? We’d love to hear and even share!

Has anyone had any problems with the oats foaming and plugging the vents etc in the instant pot?
We have not heard anyone having a problem. Christina gave us her recipe and says she uses it often. We didn’t see any oats on the lid when we first opened it, but feel free to use a tailered recipe and experiment to what works best for you. Thanks for being a fan!
Most likely that would be if you used milk?
I did but I was using high pressure for x minutes. When I lowered the pressure to medium, it wasn’t a problem. I’m switching to this recipe and using the porridge setting. I’m guessing the porridge setting is medium pressure.
Thanks for the recipe, Coach Lizzy!
Quick release?
We did not have a problem or hear from our fan about the oats foaming. However, I did let the Instant Pot natural release for about 5 minutes and then I did the quick release. If kept on natural release, I would possibly add a little more prior to cooking.
I did the normal portion on the Coaches bag. 1/3 oats to 1cup of water. I added some chopped apples and cinnamon. Set porrage to 4min with a quick release. Perfect.
Sherry! YUM, thanks so much for sharing. Oatmeal + apples + cinnamon = a classic cozy combination!
After nine minutes – natural or quick release?
I would recommend the quick release.
