A recent study finds, that fiber also could help you live longer. While avoiding heart disease, diabetes and lowering cholesterol can help you live longer because of improved health, a new study published in Monday’s (February 14, 2011) Archives of Internal Medicine showed high fiber diets are linked to lower risks of “infectious and respiratory illnesses” in addition to heart disease.
The study’s authors found that fiber’s benefits reach far beyond those aiding to heart health. It is a super power in helping the digestive system. Fiber has an “ability to bind toxins” that facilitates a quicker transit time through the body. Fiber also was found to offer possible prevention from pneumonia and the flu.
