This self-proclaimed “guyatitian” has been a spokesman for the American Dietetic Association and California Strawberry Commission, he most recently joined the WebMD nutrition blog team.
We were fortunate to tweet up with David and receive an original recipe using Coach’s Oats. We love our social media. Thanks David!

Ingredients
- 3 cups Coach’s Oats®
- ¾ cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- ⅓ cup wheat germ
- ½ cup almonds
- ½ cup pecans
- 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- ¼ tsp. ginger
- Juice and zest of ½ an orange
- ¼ cup soybean oil
- ¼ cup agave syrup
- 1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 cup mixed dried berries
- We used ⅓ cup each: golden raisins, cranberries and pomegranates
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 275°
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. Spread mixture on a large rimmed cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Take out granola and stir. Place granola back in oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let sit until cool. Store in airtight container (will keep for 2 weeks) or freeze for longer storage. - Note: I did not have soybean oil or agave syrup on hand, so I used extra virgin olive oil and honey in their place.
